Orange Chicken With Fresh Asian Slaw Recipe

Ingredients:- Orange chicken:

  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, sliced into three pieces
  • 1 cup orange marmalade cup
  • 3/4 fresh squeezed orange juice
  • Orange zest from 3 large oranges
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup General Tsao Stir Fry Sauce from Trader Joe's
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken thighs
  • 2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 cup chopped red onion
  • 6 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • sesame seeds orange slices ground black pepper

Ingredients: Fresh Asian slaw:

  • 1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon squeezed lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 Tablespoon minced fresh ginger
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 2 cups sliced fresh vegetables

Directions — Orange Chicken:

  • Step -1: Place chicken in the slow cooker
  • Step -2: Combine marmalade, 1/2 cup of orange juice, zest, soy sauce, stir fry sauce, olive oil, sesame oil, onion, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes in the medium bowl. Pour the sauce over the chicken, coating it. Seal up the slow cooker and cook low for 4 to 5 hours, stirring occasionally.
  • Step -3: Remove chicken with tongs from slow cooker, place on cutting board and shred chicken into bite-size pieces.
  • Step -4: Transfer the sauce from the slow cooker into a medium saucepan, cooking on medium-high heat. Return the chicken to the slow cooker. Bring the pan to a boil. In a bowl stir together the remaining cup of orange juice and cornstarch, then mix with the boiling liquid. Cook until liquid thickens.
  • Step -5: Mix in remaining zest and pour sauce over the chicken in the slow cooker.
  • Step -6: Place the chicken on a bed of rice, serve with orange slices, green onion, and sesame seeds.

Mix together rice wine vinegar, lime juice, honey, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger and garlic in the bowl. Add your choice of thinly sliced vegetables. (Carrots, peppers, broccoli, and water chestnuts) Then toss together.
